Top 10 Free Homeschooling Resources in New Zealand

Homeschooling in New Zealand is an exciting adventure! But it does have its drawbacks. For many of us (yes, me included), we have to survive on a tight budget while somehow providing our children with a rich educational journey. Fortunately, there are free resources out there that can help! I’ve put together this list of the top 10 free homeschooling resources in New Zealand. Please note: These are ALL New Zealand-based organisations and businesses.

Whether you’re looking for printables, online courses, or interactive activities, there’s something here for everyone.

Okay so in reality I wanted to make myself first on this list, but I thought I better not haha! Anyway I am adding my website in second place because… I offer a range of free homeschooling printables and unit studies to help make learning engaging and fun. I design affordable, engaging, hands-on unit studies, these resources are designed with New Zealand families in mind. Plus, I regularly host giveaways on social media, so follow me to score even more freebies!

3. National Library of New Zealand

The National Library has an extensive collection of free online resources, including digital books, articles, and research tools. Their “Services to Schools” section provides access to resources tailored to Kiwi students.

4. Science Learning Hub

I have put Twinkl at the bottom of this list as they are not “just” a New Zealand business, they are global. But I definitely think they are worth adding to this list. Twinkl offers a selection of free resources, including a New Zealand Taster Resource Pack, featuring worksheets and activities suitable for various year levels. While Twinkl operates globally, they provide content specifically aligned with the New Zealand curriculum.
